"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge."
– Albert Einstein
For me, sharing my knowledge with students is a creative and joyful experience.
My philosophy is that teaching consists of two parts that happen simultaneously, conveying knowledge to the students and being inspired by how the students respond and offer their unique opinions. The interaction is two-way and lively.
As a lecturer, I have taught individual courses for various study and training programmes (onsite, online or hybrid) at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. These include Fundamentals of Finance and Economics, Introduction to Sustainable Finance, Climate Scenario Analysis & Challenges, and Barriers to Data Disclosure from a Behavioural Perspective. My teaching is very interactive, integrating group work and the use of multimedia. I have consistently received good evaluations from my students.
I have supervised two to three Bachelor's and Master's theses each year. More than 30 students at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management have written their theses under my supervision. In assisting students with their dissertation topics, I aim to strike a balance between academic interest and the students' future development needs (whether in academia or industry). The topics covered are in the area of economics and finance, particularly in relation to sustainability and Environmental Social and Governance (ESG).
As a course content developer, I led the development of the online course Certified Expert in Sustainable Finance (6 ECTS credits) at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, including eight units of course materials and the design and evaluation of assignments consisting of multiple-choice questions and qualitative open-ended questions. I was responsible for the course team and carried out content updates of the course. In order to facilitate more face-to-face interaction between students and lecturers, I designed the curriculum for an on-site training programme that accompanied the course, where I also taught as a lecturer.
Between 2014 and 2017, I was a teaching assistant for the financial modelling of renewable energy projects in the master's course Infrastructure and Project Finance with Prof. Dr. Michael U. Klein at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. Between 2015 and 2018 I was a teaching assistant for two e-learning courses. In the online courses Certified Expert in Climate & Renewable Energy Finance (6 ECTS credits) and Certified Expert in Climate Adaptation Finance (6 ECTS credits), I developed and evaluated student assignments consisting of multiple-choice and quantitative calculation questions on finance and economics topics.
